After watching 3 idiots, I have realized to follow your passion or to pursue what your heart desires because it would be more difficult for a person to pursue a career which will not make you happy and satisfied. Rancho said "Pursue excellence then success will chase you". It will be difficult for a person to pursue excellence compare to a person doing and enjoying his passion. That passionate person will easily pursue excellence since he is not pressured of what he is doing; Just like Rancho, he excels in their class because he is  passionate for machines, and contrary to Farhan, who is pressured by his parents to study and finish engineering that is very contrary to his hobby and his passion which is photography.

But I do not believe that if everyone or you follow what you want or what is the desire of your heart success you will surely succeed in life. As I have watched the movie, Rancho is an excellent student, he not just an excellent student, he can also be called a genius or a prodigy in mechanics, he succeed because he did not waste his talent or gift, he did not just use it, he used it to its fullest and follow excellence. Rancho did all of this because he is intelligent and it is his passion. What if Rancho is not that intelligent, that he could not possibly pass an entrance exam to ICE (Imperial College of Engineering) but he want to be an engineer would he be able to success as an engineer? As for Raju, he is also successful because he, is also a good student, though always last of the list of the passers, but he still manages to pass the exams. We all know that not all the exams all the students will pass, there will always be a student who will fail, though he loves or his passion is in engineering and do his part to follow his passion. As I have watched the movie Raju, became a successful man since he is also a good student and engineering is his passion. Farhan, is an excellent student in engineering. He is able to pass the exams in the field where were not his passion. To sum up, a person can be successful whether he is doing or pursuing his passion or not, but it would be simpler for the person to succeed if he is doing his passion. It will be all rely on his ability that s given to him by God. So, every success and failure will be all because of God’s will not because you are good or because you are following or pursuing your true passion. If I were to choose who would I choose between the 3 idiots I will absolutely choose Rancho, because of his excellence in mathematics and in mechanics, he is able to create and invent new machines from the simple things that can be found in the house or in any common place. He is can think fast and enough solution from the problems that he encountered. He also have good principles and he has a positive attitude whenever he encounters a problem, but also he has some attitudes and principle that should be change, particularly lying to his professors just for him or his friends to be excused. But his positive attitude exceeds his negative attitude and that made me choose him above his two friends or the other idiots. 

I would choose Raju as top 2 because he is God-fearing which means he is always been relying to God for his problems and giving the glory to God for his success. Sometimes, his love for his family gives him more honor than Rancho. He is also more upright or just than Rancho, because though he is not as good as Rancho, he never though of cheating just to pass the exam particularly the final exam, eve though he already know that his professor’s plan was to fail him. He knows that if he would fail the exam and/or the job interview it is because it is the will of God, and he is willing to accept the will of God eve if it means he will have to fail both the final exam and the job interview. It made me to choose him as my top 2 because he committed suicide. In this part of the movie he did not remember that if he will be rusticated out of the Imperial College of Engineering God had his plans for him and from their motto “All is well” he should also think that “God knows best”. God will never leave him if
he just accept his wrong doing, and continue his life whatever may come or happened to him. Also I picked him as top 2 because our beliefs (religion) were contrary maybe I would have chose Raju as the top of my list, above Rancho and Farhan if we have the same belief. Farhan, for me he did not have a major role in the movie. Farhan is a good student, since he is able to pass the exams in Imperial College of Engineering though he truly loves photography that has a very far difference in Engineering since photography is an art and engineering is science. I was impressed by his skills, and also his good attitude towards his friends and much more to his family. Because he followed what his family wants him to be, later realized that he will not be happy as an engineer but consulted first his family for his decision. He is a very obedient friend, student, classmate and son. It made me picked him as the top 3 or the last of the 3 idiots, because I did not see more of his good and positive attitudes unlike Rancho and Raju particularly Rancho he exceed above the 3 idiots since he is the lead star in the movie. Rancho is one of a kind student, he portrays a student who excels in engineering field because he is gifted and it is his passion. 

Rancho also excels because of his great attitude, that is he never competes with anyone, he just do what his heart desires and enjoy what he is doing. Rancho is enjoying doing and pursuing his passion - being a mechanical engineer. Though he knows that he is better than other students in Imperial College of Engineering he never show off that he is far more great than anyone, even in their professors though sometimes he would show his professors that they were wrong, particularly the way they teacher and the wrong system that is currently running in their institution. Not just in their institution (in movie) but it is also happening in the real world. As we all know, the one who excels in their school, university, college will be the one who will have the greater opportunity to be employed by the great companies. While his classmates and friends having difficulty in passing his exams, Rancho is just enjoying learning and studying in Imperial College of Engineering.In the scenario where they are just starting their education in Imperial College of Engineering , he shows or portrays that he is very happy attending such class and told his professor that it was his dream to join their class or to be in ICE and someday to be an engineer. In the scenario where Rancho taught Virus how should he teach the students, he showed that competition will not help the students to learn and the only effect that it creates is competition. As I watched that scenario in 3 idiots, his classmates were racing for a useless race since their is no such thing as what he wrote on the board, which he only got it from his friend name. Even professor Virus compete for the challenge that he has given. From the first scenario that I have given, he was asked by his professor to define machine, and he answered his professor in the way that it may easily understand by anyone -“A machine is anything that reduces human effort” and “Anything that simplifies work, or saves time, is a machine”. But his professor wants it to be explain just a dictionary and a book would explain it. Like the answer of Chateur ; “Sir, machines are any combination of bodies so connected that their relative motions are constrained and by which means, force and motion may be transmitted and modified as a screw and its nut, or a lever arranged to turn about a fulcrum or a pulley about its pivot, etc especially, a construction, more or less complex consisting of a combination of moving parts, or simple mechanical elements, as wheels, levers, cams etc.” - in which made his professor happy for his memorized answer but have the same meaning of what Rancho’s answer. In real world Rancho’s answer was the most appropriate, would a common person easily understand Chateur’s answer? Will you also explain machine to a child just like Chateur answered his professor? Just like what Rancho’s said that he forgot book but defining it just like the dictionary or a bookish definition “Instruments that record, analyze, summarize, organize debate and explain information; that are illustrated, non-illustrated hard-bound, paperback, jacketed, non-jacketed with foreword, introduction, table of contents, index that are intended for the enlightenment, understanding enrichment, enhancement and education of the human brain through the sensory route of vision, sometimes touch” -even his professor did not get him and made his professor realized that it would be more appropriate to used simple language for everyone to understand and not just to show off your talent in memorizing or in speaking. The story help me realized that there are student though he memorized the book, the whole lecture of the teacher, he cannot beat someone who is gifted and is passionate of what he is doing. Just like Chateur who, do everything to be on the top, he has a good memory and also an excellent student of Imperial College of Engineering but still he did not pass Rancho since Rancho loves what he is studying unlike him, he is pressured because he wants to prove that he is in the top, or above any student in their institution.Though much pressure is given to that gifted person, he can survived the difficulties that he faced or he will be facing in the future. The Imperial College of Engineering portrays the present educational system that the students were experiencing particularly in the premier universities in the world were competition really happens. But as we can see or we reckon, there were countless successful professionals in the world particularly in the IT industry, that did not even graduated and were more successful than those who graduated. One great example would be William Henry Gates III, which is also known as Bill Gates, who consistently ranked in the Forbes List of the World’s Wealthiest People, who is the Co-founder and Chairman of Microsoft -the largest personal computer software company in the world. He needed not a degree to be successful, pursue his passion which is programming, follow excellence then chase him. But if you recall, Bill Gates was an excellent student, he was a student of Harvard University which consistently ranked in Top Universities in the World (just like Bill Gates). Bill Gates as we know is one of the world geniuses, he  actually has an IQ (Intelligence Quotient) of 160 which makes him even with Albert Einstein who also have an IQ of 160 who formulated the famous formula. There are some people who succeed in life even they have low IQ. There are also who follow or obeyed what their family wants then succeed because of their obedience and love of their family, that cost them to leave their dream or passion but yet still succeed in the end.  

But of course, if you excels in what you love it would be more easier for anyone who is like Rancho who pursue of what his passion is and also is gifted and excels for his passion. Just like what Rancho said “If Michael Jackson's dad forced him to be a boxer... and Mohammad Ali's dad pushed him to be a singer... ”. And the good thing about Rancho is he does not want the system of their school which made the students of Imperial College of Engineering to pressured and sometimes would end up in suicide. Just like Raju who also attempted suicide because of the pressure of choosing between his best friend over his and his family’s dream about finishing, graduating engineering and getting a high paying job for him to save his family from poverty and also saving his own future, by being an engineer. Farhan also attempted suicide but because of lead star (Rancho) by making him realize that him parents would mourn if they saw their son’s death body and because of the pressure that they have given to him to pursue what they want for him or for his future career . I like Farhan for the profession that he have taken and also his approach and explanation to his parents why he would choose photography over engineering but I am somewhat regretted of the effort that he already give for engineering, he should have finish it first then pursue his true passion which is photography, it will only take him few days to graduate engineer in their prestigious college ICE or Imperial College of Engineering. But is was his choice to take photos during graduation :-) (no offense). But the greatest thing that Rancho did in the movie was when he said that he will not despise his weak students or pressure his students (this is he said to Virus in some scene in the movie). And he actually really did it by creating a school that would help the child, pupil, student to know or discover their real talent and do what they really want to do, he used his money to nurture his students including Millimeter who also wants to go to school but does not have money to pay his tuition fees (just like him when he was younger, Rancho advice Millimeter to attend other class by buying school uniform for him not to be noticed), also those who were out of school youth who also has experience what he (Rancho) and Millimeter have experienced. He also taught them to use and invent mechanics, he shared what he have learned in school and in his research. Rancho is a very generous man and made me choose him above the other 2 idiots Raju and Farhan. 

I also believe that “All is well” when I obey and follow God’s commandments because I could assure that God would not leave me in times when I needed him and I know that He always knows what would be the best for me and for everyone. 

At the end of the story, I will again praise Rancho for his humble attitude particularly towards Chateur, because he did not boast his achievements to him but on the contrary signs the declaration of defeat over Chateur. And on Chateur a disappointment because he never learn his lessons he is still on his own competition, competing to everyone and showing off his achievements. It would be a Boo! For Chateur and Kudos for Rancho or Phunsukh Wangdu Rancho’s original name and the scientist Chateur is looking for. 

As for Virus, i believe that he learned his lessons in life that not everything that he think would be good for his students would really be the best for their future. Also for his offspring, for Pia and her sister, just like choosing a husband and career for his daughters. We cannot blame Virus for the suicide that was mention and happened in the movie, since they have ask for God’s direction for their life. That whatever may happened it is always been God’s will will be done. Life has lot of challenge if you quit, you will be the one who will be regretful in the end. Just like Rancho, he did not look on the negative side, he face the problem and somehow manages to escape and pass the problem that he encountered. He always look for the an enough yet fast solution for his problems, just like what he did on Raju father, he knows that an ambulance would be costly, so he use Pia’s scooter and drove his Raju’s father to the Hospital, but it was not enough yet to deliver his father to the hospital. He already know that they will not be easily accepted for Raju’s father to be admitted in the hospital and knowing that his father is in bad condition he directly enter in to the emergency room without getting off the scooter. He drove the scooter inside the hospital directly in to the emergency room. Rancho also did a great job on the movie scenario that he delivers the baby of Pia’s sister, he made quick ideas that can be an alternative of the suction that they will be needing to deliver the baby. It was very hard for professor Virus part, as perfectionist, watching his daughter to have a delivery like that, a very horrible scene for him :-(. But all thanks to Rancho and other 2 idiots and the students who help them to make the delivery a success. Kudos for Rancho! Kudos to the 3 idiots! It was a good story -an education story particularly for the engineering students and also for the students who think of quitting. I advice those students to watch this movie, it will made them realized that there will always solution for their problems. If you think that there is no solution for your problem, then do problem that problem. You just have to accept of what will happen, it is not the end, it will only be the end if you already died.
